Natural Gas Storage
We own two underground salt dome natural gas storage facilities located near Hattiesburg, Mississippi that are strategically situated to serve the domestic Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Southeast natural gas markets and are capable of delivering in excess of 1.4 Bcf/d of natural gas into six interstate pipeline systems. We also lease underground salt dome natural gas storage caverns that serve markets in Texas and Louisiana.
We placed a natural gas storage cavern into service at our Petal facility during the third quarter of 2008 which has a total of 9.1 Bcf of storage capacity, representing 5.9 Bcf of FERC certificated working gas capacity and approximately 3.2 Bcf of base gas requirements needed to support minimum pressures.
